(MOTHERS) UP AGAINST THE WALL
(c) by Stevenn Beck
people who make up their own rules
those who won't fund cops or schools
or anybody who breaks the law
leaders who can't keep it in their pants
keep asking for a second chance
(mothers) up against the wall
those out there who push fear and hate
or anyone who likes to denigrate
I've got no use for you at all
those who claim to love this nation
just not most of the population
(mothers) up against the wall
corporations who cut corners
taking bailout cash and then run
elected officials stealing public money
while the rest of us just gets crumbs
all the parents who hit their kids
damaging the most innocent
they disgust me most of all
people who curse at every line
or those who text away their time
(mothers) up against the wall
candidates who won't discuss the issues
seeking election on their charm
pandering to fat cats and losers
and only the wealthy can run
people who decide how the rest should live
just because they say we've sinned
don't you think they have a lot of balls
those who vote to withhold relief
but take their share when they're in need
(mothers) up against the wall
civil servants who prey on fear
ballplayers who are millionaires
too lazy to even run out a ground ball
hippies getting rich on real estate
and anyone too cheap to keep us safe
(mothers) up against the wall
(mothers) up against the wall

WHERE HAS ALL THE LOVE GONE (MR. JONES)
(c) Stevenn Beck
don't you remember when the kids all seemed to care
peace on earth good will towards men and flowers in their hair
now lacking in compassion, they've left you all alone
where has all the love gone, mr. jones
in the end they took your lead does it make a father proud
accumulate everything you can and freeze the others out
blind to their advantage, everybody's on their own
where has all the love gone, mr. jones
the sacrifice you made for them cannot be denied
but your sons and your daughters would never ever
pay that price
once it was their passion to care about the poor
but it was just in fashion - and now it's sadly out the door
grownups in appearance, rocking on and getting stoned
but where has all the love gone, mr. jones
once we took control I hoped everything would change
but children given everything kept it all the same
don't you remember when the kids all seemed to care
peace on earth good will towards men and flowers in their hair
now these children never visit you rarely call you on the phone
how do you feel about that, mr. jones
and where has all the love gone. mr. jones
where has all the love gone mr. jones

DISAPPEARED
(c) by Stevenn Beck
I woke up to find myself
in a bar I used to know
once I arrived to my surprise
my best friend came to say hello
he grabbed my hand
and we shared some laughs
and we had ourselves some beers
when I looked away
he'd disappeared
I walked outside and hitched a ride
up a dark mountain road
the driver spoke a foreign tongue
and he drove a heavy load
at the top he stopped and pushed me out
though wolves were waiting there
when I looked away
he'd disappeared
I made it back to the valley
coming down from my mountain high
I had hoped that you all would greet me
but I'd vanished from your minds
I walked across the great divide
until the town's lights came in view
strangers dressed like cowboys
played with indians in the ruins
I stopped for awhile to watch them
then they surrounded at me in fear
when I looked away
they'd disappeared
I came across an old man standing
in the middle of the street
he looked both ways and then he leaped
collapsing at my feet
a lady on the corner screamed
all I could do was stare
when I looked away
they'd disappeared
I went on down to the subway
but I found myself in flight
soaring over the mainline
haunted by the sight
I crashed near my apartment
and stumbled up the stairs
followed by the shadows
who seemed to be everywhere
I smiled at their presence
then I fell out feeling weird
when I looked away
they'd disappeared
when I looked away
they'd disappeared
they'd disappeared....

IT'S EASIER (WHEN YOU'RE OLD)
(c) by Stevenn Beck
sometimes when I dream about long-ago nights
freezing cold as I stagger down the stairs
glasses fog up as I enter the fox
lots of people, no one reaching for me there
<chorus>
I'd give anything to be back there
I'd give everything I own
I'd walk over and I'd try to share
I wouldn't be so quick to go
it's easier when you're old...
I still remember when I first saw her face
a sudden hot breeze on a cool winter's day
I still remember what I wanted to say
she looked at me but I turned away
<repeat chorus>
sliding and slipping down those icy roads
I hear the music re-playing in my head
I toss and turn once again I can't sleep
I'm looking backwards I'm afraid look ahead
<repeat chorus>

FROM BEST TO WORST
(c) by Stevenn Beck
when things go from best to worst
once things were great now they're so bad it hurts
when you're up then you're down
and now you're floundering around
when things go from best to worst
when the pain in your heart is so heavy
when most of your recent memories aren't pretty
when your brain tells you enough
and your support all gets cut off
when things go from best to worst
when you don't know how to work your day
it stretches before you endlessly everything's changed
you've got to look for some good
make sure you take good care of you
eliminate the bad thoughts in your way
when you've been through all of this before
when you've got to pull yourself up once more
you need to summon up the drive
to do much more than just survive
when things go from best to worst
when things go from best to worst
and life just feels like you've been cursed
think back those lessons learned
remember how damn much you're worth
when things go from best to worst
when things go from best to worst

Let It Go

LET IT GO
(c) Stevenn Beck
have you ever wondered why good people often die
in a way that makes it hard to find some meaning
losing control over their own lives one painful day at a time
for months afterward I'd wake up screaming
(but you all tell me)
I've got to let it go
I've got to let it go
I owe it to myself
to let it go
don't understand why there's that kind of end
I've never been a religious man
I've been talking to anyone who may have some insight
it just doesn't make any sense
can't wrap the thought around my head
I'm confused and more than a little sad and traumatized
(but you all tell me)
I've got to let it go
I've got to let it go
I owe it to myself
to let it go
I know there's nothing I could have done
to prevent what was to come
but I loved them and it hurts there's no reason
standing now in their empty space
life's possessions stripped away
I'm angry and depressed and I miss them
(but you all tell me)
I've got to let it go
I've got to let it go
I owe it to myself
to let it go
I've got to let it go
I've got to let it go
I owe it to myself to let it go
I owe it to myself to let it go....

WHAT DO YOU DO
(c) Stevenn Beck
what do you do when everybody's left you
what do you do when everybody's moved on
where do you turn when you're old and helpless
what do you do when everybody's gone
where can you go when there's no home to return to
where can you go when you're left all alone
what can you do when she's not there to protect you
how do you cope when you have no more control
at the mercy of people who would take any job
the sadness in your eyes telling it all
needing to beg each time you need the restroom
left alone for hours to stare at the walls
what do you do when you have no connection
what do you do when you can't see or hear
where can you turn if you need assistance
what do you when there's nobody cares
at the mercy of those with no empathy for the sick and old
people who treat your body way too rough
and when you complain a bit too loudly
the doctor gives you drugs to shut you up
what do you do when everybody's left you
what do you when you receive no respect
how can it be your country ignores you
what do you do when everybody's left
what do you when you're waiting for the end

DECEMBER'S CHILDREN
(c) by Stevenn Beck
it's five pm, time to get on the line
dinner to be served soon
some can't walk others can't see
but they do whatever they have to do
lively talk fills the dinner hall
laughter through the hurting
risque stories of yesteryear
suddenly I too am laughing
<chorus>
nobody's giving in
nobody's stopping
nobody calling it quits
december's children
all the ladies talking
you know the man with the broken hip
he's with that pretty widow now
the two of them are moving in
jack recalls flights over japan
and tom remembers the navy
suddenly everyone tearing up
thinking how mean war could be
<repeat chorus>
dinner time ends now it's time to leave
everyone struggling to return home
needing to save strength to face another day
when I offer to help they all say no
when I offer to help they all say no
december's children
december's children
december's children

TAKE BACK THE USA
c) by Stevenn Beck
it seems like it's been this way forever
problems piling up by the score
officials who can't work together
something that no longer be ignored
everybody shouting, no one listens
special interests and fat cats call all of the shots
compromise on issues doesn't happen
and everybody loose with their facts
take back the USA
get off your ass and save the day
take back the USA
we don't want no more extremes
what we want is some democracy
take back the USA
those we elect obstruct not govern
proud that they hold such a narrow view
so many of us continue to suffer
desperate for their leaders to move
take back the USA
get off your ass and save the day
take back the USA
we don't want no more extremes
what we want is some democracy
take back the USA
the people have the power now it's time to use it
let's get out there and make our desires known
if those in charge stonewall solutions then
throw the bastards out with your votes
take back the USA
get off your ass and save the day
take back the USA
we don't want no more extremes
what we want is some democracy
take back the USA
take back the USA
get off your ass and save the day
take back the USA
no more west south north or east
we're all americans from sea to sea
take back the USA
take back the USA
take back the USA

WALK WITH ME
(c) Stevenn Beck
it's a miracle that I met you
so many others just passing through
but you were so nice and real
beautiful inside and outside
it was so amazing for me to find you
to walk with me
you're truly one in a million
loving and so giving
you help to make my life complete
you're my special partner and lover
it's been so nice to discover
you to walk with me
time was never the same once you joined me
time was never the same once you came to me
I'm a better man cause I know you
there's nothing I wouldn't do for you
and I know you would be there for me
I want to be with you always
look forward to spending many more days
with you to walk with me
no one knows what will happen
I want it to be with my lover and friend
this is our destiny
wherever we are we'll be together
life is now so much better
with you to walk with me
with you to walk with me
with you to walk with me....

FOR THE FIRST TIME
(c) Stevenn beck
you've been asking what I've been doing
the answer is anything that I decide
I don't have to answer to no one
I've got the whole day to do what I like
I can go to the beach or maybe a movie
I can just sit here and close my eyes
But I try each day to be creative
for the first time in my life
you've been asking how I've been dealing
it's a great feeling to own your time
if you want me to tell you how much I miss it
you'll be waiting till the end of time
I'm enjoying being creative
for the first time in my life
I can spend my whole day writing
I can play guitar and sing along
I'm enjoying being creative
for the first time in my life
for the first time in my life...

YOUNG AGAIN
(c) by Stevenn Beck
I was down, all alone with no one to turn to
then you appeared to help it turn around
watching you come on through that door
and knowing that you cared
you make me feel young again
I never really understood why you had to go
but I'm really happy that you have returned
every man needs to know he has good family and friends
you make me feel young again
I've played with the years and wasted some time
struck out the sun for so long
but you took my hand, gave me support
and caused me again to be strong
you just smiled and lit up the sky
like no one else can do
you couldn't stay away and I'm glad
you'll always be a part of me now
of everything I am
you make me feel young again
I've played with the years and wasted some time
struck out the sun for so long
but you took my hand, gave me support
and caused me again to be strong
there were days when nothing I did
seemed to work out right
but your return helped me find my way
it's been hard for way too long but all that has now changed
you make me feel young again
you make me feel young again
you make me feel young again

I FEEL YOU
(c) by Stevenn Beck
I feel you
you're with me in every thing I do
every move that I make
every step that I take
I feel you
I hear you
in every breeze passing through
whispering in my ears
telling me don't be scared
I hear you
I follow you
I know this now to be true
you provided a plan
that's who I am
I follow you
I found you
you've returned to me and it's true
when I couldn't go on
you pushed me hard
I found you
I feel you
you're with me in everything I do
you're so deep in my soul
I'll never be alone
I feel you

I WANT MORE
(c) Stevenn Beck
there may be some bad out there
but there's so much joy to share
and I want more
walking in a light summer's rain
or sipping margaritas by the bay
I want more
jogging through central park
or dancing in the dark
I want more
playing silly games with my kid
or with old friends, games of risk
I want more
you can say it's an obsession
you can say what's in your heart
you're entitled to your opinion
there's just so much more I want
summer days out in ocean beach
or working out just for me
I want more
singing songs that I create
or playing someone else on stage
I want more
there's nothing wrong with being greedy
nothing wrong with wanting what I want
sharing good times with those who love me
saying goodbye is just too hard
making love to you all night
holding you the rest of the time
I want more
hanging out with my best friend
hoping to see him once again
I want more
walking on my own two feet
making my own meals to eat
I want more
sleeping in my own bed at night
staying in charge of my own life
I want more
I want more...

SEE IT THROUGH
(c) by Stevenn Beck
the dawn breaks out and the sky is light
I haven't known much peace
even after all this time
there hasn't been enough release
awareness grows and the sky's now dark
and fears they build anew
nothing to do but see it through
I see the path I took in life
too much time I was blind
to the answers that I've searched for
and that I may never find
summerged in water above my head
there's nothing I can do
except to see it through
it's a long long road
stretching high and low
it bothers me why are we here
god why don't we know
now though a number of years pass
I just can't break this mold
life seems just the opposite
from what I had been told
autumn will come and then will go
and still I'll have no clue
nothing to do but see it through
it's a long long road
stretching high and low
it bothers me why are we here
god why don't we know
every year the leaves will die
and from the trees they fall
when the time has come for me
I'll try to heed that call
but I'll say I need the secret
and that I wanted you
nothing to do till then but see it through
nothing to do till then but see it through
there's nothing to do but see it through
